CriticalVue started as Tech Pro Security's own monitoring tool — three years of catching multi-vendor camera outages before the client called, productized for other integrators.
Why we built this
Tech Pro Security has been deploying and maintaining commercial camera systems for over a decade. Like most integrators, our clients didn't standardize on a single brand — one site runs Avigilon, the next is on Dahua NVRs, the next is a sprawling Axxon cluster. Some clients have all three.
The monitoring tools we tried fell into two camps: vendor-locked dashboards that only spoke their own protocol, or generic network monitors that could tell you a device pinged but had no idea whether the cameras attached to it were actually recording. Neither one was built for the integrator's job.
So we built our own. It started as a Python script that polled the platforms we used most, sent us an email when something dropped offline, and ran on a box in our office. Three years and several rewrites later it watches over 3,000+ cameras across 28 client sites — and most of our clients no longer call us about offline cameras, because we've already fixed them.
We're opening it up now because every integrator we've talked to has the same problem we did, and the existing tools haven't caught up.

Vendor-agnostic by default
Every platform we support is a first-class citizen. We don't favor the vendor that gave us the best partner deal — we built this because we didn't have one.
Built for the 3 a.m. NVR call
If a tool can't help you when an NVR drops at 3 a.m., it isn't a monitoring tool. Every feature gets tested against that scenario.
